What does a balanced plate actually look like?

Many people believe that the only way to eat a balanced diet is to count their calories, and this can work for a time. But sometimes calorie counting can sap the joy from eating. Food is fuel; you need to eat to live, exercise, and enjoy your life.
Portion balance without calorie counting is a much healthier way to do things. The size of the portions of food on your plate is easier to visualise and a more manageable way to eat a balanced diet.

Think: a chicken breast with a baked potato and salad with some avocado, or eggs on toast with some fruit and yoghurt. These are balanced meals without the calorie counting.
